That simplicity is what gives the dog-tag motif its weight. Identity tags are practical pieces of equipment, but in remembrance they can also stand for the individual behind a uniform — a name, a family and a life rather than an anonymous figure.

We chose the dog tag because remembrance is ultimately personal. The design is deliberately minimal so the symbol carries the meaning without turning memorial imagery into decoration.
