Challenger 2 — Operation TELIC, Iraq 2003.

The Challenger 2 was the British Army’s main battle tank during the 2003 Iraq campaign and became one of the defining British armoured images of operations around Basra. We chose it because vehicles can become as closely associated with a campaign as places or unit badges, particularly for the crews and supporting troops who lived and worked around them.

The weathered illustration keeps the focus on the machine and the period rather than turning it into a glossy ‘tank fan’ graphic.
