Omaha Beach became one of the most heavily contested landing areas of D-Day.
American forces landed here on 6 June 1944 against strong German defences, and the beach became one of the defining locations of the Normandy campaign. The design combines a subdued shoreline scene with the Omaha Beach name and coordinates, keeping the focus on the actual place and its history rather than using exaggerated battlefield imagery.
