Helmet, rifle and poppies — a modern version of the battlefield memorial.

A rifle placed upright with a helmet has long been used as an improvised military memorial to represent a fallen service member when the person themselves is absent. The poppies place that stark field symbol within the wider British remembrance tradition.

We chose the image because it communicates loss without showing combat. The empty equipment stands for the individual who is no longer there, keeping the design firmly about remembrance rather than glorification.
