Kunar is defined by steep valleys, high ridgelines and the river corridor running through eastern Afghanistan. It became a major theatre of the Afghanistan war, where terrain could dominate every movement and line of sight. We chose a topographic map because the physical shape of Kunar explains more about the place than a generic combat image ever could.

The worn map styling keeps the design historical and geographical rather than claiming a particular unit, patrol or personal experience.
