Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift — two battles on 22 January 1879.
Earlier that day, a British force was overwhelmed at Isandlwana; later, the mission station at Rorke’s Drift became the scene of a determined defence that continued into the following morning. We chose to link the two because they are often remembered separately, yet they belong to the same day, the same campaign and the same landscape of the Anglo-Zulu War.
The artwork keeps that connection understated, using place-led imagery rather than turning either battle into a novelty slogan.
