Isandlwana, 22 January 1879.
This design marks the battle in which a Zulu army overwhelmed the main British camp during the Anglo-Zulu War. It remains one of the most significant British defeats of the Victorian era and one of the defining victories of the Zulu kingdom. We chose to represent it because the story deserves to be understood from both sides and because the battlefield itself remains an extraordinarily powerful historical place.
The vintage-style image keeps the focus on the date, location and scale of the event rather than reducing it to a triumphal slogan.
