Battle of Danny Boy, 14 May 2004 — Operation TELIC, Iraq.

The action took place near the British checkpoint known as Danny Boy outside Al-Amarah during a period of intense fighting in southern Iraq. British troops fought Iraqi insurgents at close range, and the battle became one of the most widely discussed British Army actions of the Iraq campaign.

Gallus uses the checkpoint, date and action to keep the design tied to a real place and event rather than a generic Iraq-war graphic.
