Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift — 22 January 1879.

The two battles are inseparable in the history of the Anglo-Zulu War. Earlier that day, the main British camp beneath Isandlwana was overwhelmed by the Zulu army. Hours later, survivors and news from the disaster reached the mission station at Rorke’s Drift, where a small garrison prepared for the attack that followed.
