Helmand compound — the architecture of the Green Zone.

Mud-walled compounds, narrow tracks and irrigation ditches formed a distinctive human landscape across parts of Helmand Province. We chose the compound as the subject because campaigns are remembered through ordinary places as much as famous battles, and this architecture became immediately recognisable to people who spent time operating in the region.

The high-contrast silhouette is deliberately quiet and place-led, avoiding the exaggerated imagery often used on modern military clothing.
