2 PARA attacked Argentine positions around Darwin and Goose Green after the British landings at San Carlos. The fighting was hard, close and costly on both sides, and the battle should be remembered as more than a headline victory. Lieutenant Colonel H. Jones was killed during the action; Argentine forces under Lieutenant Colonel Ítalo Piaggi ultimately surrendered after a prolonged defence.
